But what does it actually mean?</p> <h2>Beefing Up the Beat</h2> <p>A Redrum is a specific type of DJ edit where a producer takes an original song (usually an older 80s/90s track or an acoustic song) and layers a heavy, modern drum beat underneath it.</p> <h2>Why DJs Use Them</h2> <p>Many classic 80s songs were recorded with live drummers, meaning the BPM fluctuates slightly, making them impossible to beatmatch. A Redrum fixes the track to a strict grid (quantizes it) and adds a heavy kick drum, making an old classic hit just as hard on a club system as a modern EDM track.</p>
